Safe, plug-and-play lighting for sites that never stop moving

The E&E Lighting 48V Temporary Lighting System is a Safety Extra-Low Voltage (SELV) solution built for construction sites, where egress routes and work areas are constantly changing.

Every luminaire and exit sign comes pre-fitted with keyed, polarity-correct connectors, so your team can install, relocate, and daisy-chain fixtures without custom wiring, all fully compliant with AS/NZS 3012.

Why SELV

Specified for safety,
chosen for value

Enhanced site safety

The 48V SELV platform drastically reduces the risk of electric shock, eliminating the need for complex mechanical protection and containment required by mains-voltage systems.

Unmatched flexibility & scalability

A full ecosystem of interconnecting cables, splitters, and mounting options lets you reconfigure the system in minutes to match the ever-changing layout of a construction site.

Built for demanding environments

Vibration-resistant and weatherproof, with long-life LiFePO4 batteries and LEDs that meet AS/NZS 2293.3 for a 1-hour emergency duration. Reliable in the toughest site conditions.

Significant Cost Reduction

Faster installation, removal, and relocation cut labour costs and minimise project delays, keeping your lighting in step with the build.

How it works

Simple installation workflow

  1. Installation

Power supplies are installed at source locations. The cabling network is run and connected using splitters as needed.

  2. Connection

Luminaires and exit signs are simply plugged into the nearest cable connector. Keyed design ensures correct polarity every time.

  3. Control

General lighting can be switched off from the power supply when the site is unoccupied, saving energy without compromising the emergency backup charge.

  4. Relocation

Fixtures are unplugged, moved, and re-plugged into the network at their new location with minimal effort and zero rewiring.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an electrician to install or relocate the fixtures?

No, every luminaire and exit sign comes fitted with keyed, polarity-correct connectors, so fixtures plug in correctly every time. That means installation and relocation is rapid and error-proof, with zero custom rewiring required.

Can I turn off the lighting to save energy without losing emergency backup?

Yes. The system's 3-core cabling network lets you switch off general lighting from the power supply. For example when a site is unoccupied, while the emergency batteries stay permanently charged and ready for an outage.

What does SELV mean, and why does it matter?

SELV stands for Safety Extra-Low Voltage. Running at 48V DC instead of mains voltage drastically reduces the risk of electric shock and removes the need for the complex mechanical protection and containment that mains-voltage systems require.

Is the system compliant with Australian and New Zealand standards?

Yes. It's designed to meet AS/NZS 3012, the standard for electrical installations on construction and demolition sites, and its batteries and LEDs comply with AS/NZS 2293.3 for 1-hour emergency lighting duration.

How easy is it to reconfigure the lighting as the site layout changes?

The system includes interconnecting cables, splitters, and multiple mounting options, so it can be reconfigured to match a construction site's changing layout without any rewiring.

How durable are the fixtures on an active construction site?

Fixtures are vibration-resistant and weatherproof, with long-life LiFePO4 batteries and LEDs built for reliable performance in demanding site conditions.

Will this save money compared to a mains-voltage temporary lighting setup?

Yes. Faster installation, removal, and relocation reduce labour costs and help minimise project delays compared to traditional mains-voltage temporary lighting.
